History

Patria Credit is the largest non-banking microfinance institution in Romania, with over 14 years of experience in granting loans on the local market.

The scope of activity of the company is the granting of business loans to microenterprises and small companies, individual entrepreneurs, agro producers and individuals.

Our priority is to provide financial services to certain customer categories with limited access to financial services, as a result of the risk profile limitations or geographic limitations. We serve over 10,000 small business customers, agro producers and individuals; the value of the loans granted to our current customers amounts to approximately EUR 39 million (in Lei equivalent).

The volume of the loans granted by Patria Credit in 2010 is over EUR 18 million (in Lei equivalent). Some of the loans granted to our customers are for co-financing European projects (both for their own contribution, and bridge loans).

Patria Credit has national coverage through its 42 regional units and we started our activity as a financing program of World Vision International, gradually becoming an institution exclusively dedicated to financing small businesses and agro producers.

What is micro-financing?

Microfinance aims to support economic and social development. This step is accomplished by providing loans for the development of projects, activities or business, for supporting economic and community development projects.

Microfinance lending differs from the banking system through the analysis techniques of the loans and customers:

Customer-oriented approach based on good knowledge of skills, as well as of its managerial capacities to develop a specific business or activity;
The analysis of real cash flow to assess the risk level and to estimate the financed amount based on all the revenues gained by the customer.

This industry has grown over the past few years, which is also due to the involvement of international financial institutions which have having allotted significant resources for its support.
